Jill and Damien performed at the 24th Sydney Middle Eastern Dance Festival 2013 “Dance of the Seven Seas” Concert “featuring Australia’s top dancers in a theatre setting”. Double Edge Dance have performed as guest artists at the Lebanon Carnival held 2016 and 2017 in Darling Harbour.
Damien began his training at the age of six, at Theatre Arts Mackay under the direction of Lynette Denny. Starting with tap, he then moved onto all styles including Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Acrobatics, Drama and Singing. After completing his CSTD Gold Cross and RAD Intermediate exams he then moved to Melbourne to train at the Australian Ballet School. Here he also performed various roles with the Company. Damien’s first full time dance job was with Princess Cruises, which resulted in a few fill in contracts in the years that followed. In between these Damien worked as a commercial dancer for ads in Taiwan, Star Struck on Ch 9, The Helpmann Awards as well as two contracts with Opera Australia. He also spent some time in England performing an U.K Tour of Copacabana and as Dance Captain for Potters Theatre Company. As well as teaching the full time students at Bartuccio’s in Melbourne, Damien had the opportunity to assist the Choreographer at Potters Theatre Company. He has also spent some time teaching Ballroom and Latin after spending a year and a half in training, which led him and his dance partner to choreograph a piece for Short, Sweet and Dance 2007 & 2009. He was also in the musical ‘Las Vegas Confidential’ in 2008, and has been a dancer for Robyn Loau. Damien has also performed in the Adelaide, Sydney and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals in Nikki Nouveau’s show Bordello Blues, doing a Pas De Deux/Ariel Lira act with Simonne Smiles.
Jill has danced professionally for several years specialising in middle eastern dance but also incorporating contemporary, jazz and acrobatics.
